ADAPTED TRAD

I used to do this as one lot of animals and their noises on an organic farm versus another lot of vocally mixed up ones with frogs tweeting and so on on a GM farm. It was often played to an already enlightened audience. Other audiences required 4th wall explanation and so this version has evolved as appears on the Domhwelus album “Rogue Trait”.

So this is the more concise version as I'm not hanging around on the CD to explain it. So.. Old McMulchit grows lovely organic veg on his smallholding not far from here with regular animals uttering regular utterances. They are not captive “farmyard” animals but are wild ones and there's also his companion dog. His neighbour’s lab ain’t a labrador but a laboratory he has set up in his barn and has started experimenting with modifying the genes of everything he can lay his hands on. (The use of  “Wit Nit” is my private tribute to Andrew Sachs whos passing was announced while I was honing this verse for the CD version and I left it in. “What is Wit Nit ?“ – Fawlty Towers – Mrs Richards episode). So basically bits of genes go missing and get mixed up with the bits of gene from something else and all the animals start making the wrong noises. Some also start growing limbs they shouldn't have.

His neighbour realises his eureka moment and starts to breed fish with legs so that as well as fish fingers he can have fish drumsticks. Some grow more than two legs - spare legs like spare ribs. He did not anticipate that the fish could merely walk out of the pond and eat McMulchit's strawberries.
